The Birth of Nomad

In 2019, after completing my Master of Management & Leadership, I honestly was bored and wanted to teach more than my job at Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District would allow me to do. So, I took my show on the road to help some friends and colleagues keep certifications and review their programs, helping them meet the standards of the MAHC. Before I established NOMAD, I would go anywhere for the cost of my travel and a meal; it was a mini vacation on weekends to the coast and up the Columbia Gorge. Then, the world stopped and went into isolation. That did not stop me from traveling to any place that needed help keeping their certifications and preparing for reopening, but I also realized that this could be so much more than a few weekends a year. With a few Facebook posts, I continued to meet new people and help them navigate aquatics management through COVID-19. Then, in the spring of 2021, I worked full-time, running a swim school and part-time with Oak Hills Homeowners Association as their Aquatic Supervisor and pool operator. At that time, I decided to work those two jobs and move away from the work I had started before the pandemic; then, the calls began to come in asking. Can you help? NOMAD was officially born on June 1, 2022, as Nomad Consulting, Training, and Safety Services LLC.

Why NOMAD? When I was furloughed and eventually let go with the rest of the THRPD aquatics staff, I was cast adrift into the COVID sea with no place to call home. I was indeed a NOMAD, and I bring that spirit to this endeavor to which I am now dedicated. I will go anywhere, anytime, to give the best support services and training to those who need it.

Where is NOMAD? We are proud to be local to the Pacific Northwest, but we will travel wherever there is a need for our services.
